BARWA RACING’S VON SMITH BIDING HIS TIME PRIOR TO U.S. NATIONALS

Leggett sees progress at Texas Drags
 (07-28-10) Pineville NC - Terry Leggett returned to the ADRL UTI Texas Drags, after making lots of changes from the rained out March event. Terry ran a 40 Ford in the March event, but shortly after the event he sold the 40 Ford, and took possession of his new TM 2009 Ford Mustang, Terry also hired Pro Extreme Quain Stott to take over tuning duties on the car. "We made a lot of changes between the rain out and the rescheduled event, exciting changes that can only help our team in the long run." Leggett said.

Frankie Taylor Wins ADRL Pro Extreme Event
 (07-28-10) Baytown, TX – The Texas heat was expected when we pulled in to Houston Raceway Park for the completion of the March rain delayed Inaugural UTI Texas Drags this past Friday. We felt confident with running in these conditions since this is our hometown track.
Considering his Mad Man nickname, it was no surprise that Frankie towed his new solid black car to the staging lanes even though he only has a few full passes on his Jeffers Pro Car built 2005 C5 Corvette. Relying on his current 6th place qualifying spot from March, his fourth qualifying attempt Friday morning was nothing to brag about but allowed us to gather data on the current track conditions.

 (07-28-10) ORANGEBURG, SC – The Quick 8 Outlaws will be making their only appearance this season at “Gator Alley” this weekend. The Outlaws have become one of the premier clubs on the east coast because of the diverse group of power plants and great side by side races. The race fans will see several different kinds of Doorslammers, anything from a ‘40 Ford to new GTO. Not only that there will be a Blown, Nitrous Injected, Turbo Charged, Pro Charger and just about anything else.  (07-28-10) Port Charlotte FL - The ADRL UTI Texas Drags have been completed, and while Tommy D'Aprile didn't make it to the winners circle, It is still considered a good weekend by Tommy, and the crew. "We made some changes to the car between events and gained valuable information." D'Aprile said. The Mel Bush Motorsports team had decided to throw out the run in March that was made right before the electricity went down at the track, and take a chance with everyone else in the Pro Extreme Category on Friday morning. "We thought we might be able to better our position, it was a calculated risk, and it didn't quite work the way we wanted, but we were able to make the event as a alternate, and match up with Alex Hossler in the 1st round, and take the win in what was one of the closest races of the weekend for us." BERNER PLANS FOR SHORT TERM LOSSES TO TURN INTO LONG TERM SUCCESSES
 (07-28-10) CRETE, IL - This past weekend at the ADRL Texas Drags, Pete Berner and the Summit Racing Equipment team made some pretty impressive runs. Despite their hard work and obvious talents, however, both races from the weekend turned into first round losses. The first race of the double header Berner turned on the red eye with an unfortunate .001 red. Then, he certainly looked primed for race two of the weekend, qualifying second with a stout 4.14 at 175 mph. However, despite looking flawless in several rounds of qualifying, Berner’s GXP shook in round one and he had to abort the run.

 (07-27-10) BADEN-WÜRTTEMBERG, Germany - American drag racing superstar Melanie Troxel will return to the Europe for the second time this season to race in the FIA Nitrolympx, which takes place Aug. 13-15 at Germany's famous Hockenheimring.
Troxel will be piloting the same '67 Camaro she drove to the quickest and fastest run on European soil when she zoomed down the quarter-mile in 5.937 seconds at 242.42 mph (390.13 kph) on May 30 at Santa Pod Raceway in England.  (07-26-10) BENSON, NC - Saturday July 24th the EOPM put on another awesome Extreme Show but this time in Extreme heat. When the teams were called to the lanes for Extreme Outlaw Pro Mod qualifying we had Edward Wilson, Dave Leonardo, Dwayne White, Kevin Mayer, Tommy Mauney, Glenn Jones, Jeff Blasi, Buzz Varner, Andy Beal, RB Smith, Brian Williams, Dewayne Silance, Mack Copeland, Ronnie Gardner, Chris Rini, Robert Morris, Kevin Rivenbark, and wild Bill De'Soto all prepared for battle to begin. After the three exciting rounds of qualifying the fans were left in awe as the Extreme Outlaw Pro Mods would once again deliver the promised show at Dunn Benson Dragstrip, with Ronnie Gardner driving the Goad's Racing Teams big nitrous powered 67 Camaro taking the number one qualifying spot.
